Jacopo Rivani and Arcangelo Corelli Orchestra

JACOPO RIVANI

Jacopo Rivani was born in Ravenna, where he got a diploma in trumpet with excellent marks. He graduated in conducting with the highest marks at the G. Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro under the guidance of M° M. Benzi and with a final essay about Rossini’s dramaturgy with special reference to his opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

During his academic career, Rivani studied trumpet in depth with C. Quintavalla (first trumpet in the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), A. Lucchi (first trumpet in the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia), M. Sohmmerhalder (soloist) and G. Tarkovi (first trumpet in the Berliner Philharmoniker).

Two of the most important people he has met in his life are M° P. Bellugi and M° A. Zedda, who was co-supervisor of his final graduation essay in conducting and of whom Rivani was the assistant for the Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Pesaro, at the celebrations for the  bicentennial of its composition by  G. Rossini.

Another significant acquaintance is M° Muti, when Rivani had his debut at the Ravenna Festival in 2011.

Despite his young age, Rivani has conducted over 150 operas and over 50 symphonic concerts for which he has obtained great praise from both the audience and critics. Among the latter, we could mention A. Foletto, who wrote a review on the Italian newspaper Repubblica when Rivani conducted Nabucco in Como (2017), and several reviews on trade magazines (Giornale della Musica, Opera, Operaclick, GBOpera, Le Salon Musical and others). Among the most famous operas and music he has conducted are: La Traviata, Rigoletto, Nabucco, Il Barbiere di Siviglia di Rossini, Cenerentola, Don Pasquale, Elisir d’Amore, Cavalleria Rusticana, Carmina Burana, Otello di Verdi, Madama Butterfly, Beethoven’s I, III, IV, V, VI and IX Symphonies, Tchaikovsky’s IV Symphony, Mahler’s IV Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di gloria and many others.

He is also deeply committed to contemporary repertoire with some preference for premieres such as Milo and Maya around the world by M. Franceschini (2015) and Ettore Majorana – A chronicle of countless disappearances by R. Vetrano (2017), both widely successful with the audience and critics. In 2021, Rivani conducted the premieres of A. Tarabella’s Pinocchio (in Lucca, Ravenna and Rovigo) and M. D’Amico Il viaggio di G. Mastorna (in Rimini, Ravenna and Cesena).

He has been a teacher of Semiography of Contemporary Music at the courses organized by As.Li.Co and convalidated by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Rivani has worked for several Italian theatres such as Arcimboldi in Milan, Sociale in Como, Carlo Felice in Genoa, Manzoni in Bologna, Pavarotti in Modena, Alighieri in Ravenna, Farnese in Parma, and also in Bergamo, Cremona, Brescia, Piacenza, Pavia, Bolzano, Trento, Roma (Olimpico), Naples (Politeama), Sassari (Comunale), Reggio Emilia, Vicenza, Pordenone, Jesi, Chiaravalle, Osimo, Urbino, Ancona, Lucca, Pisa, Chieti, Lugo di Romagna, Pesaro, Ferrara and Cesena, besides some important festivals including “Ravenna Festival” (2012, 2019 and 2021), “Festival Como città della musica” (2016, 2017 and 2018), “Festival Arena delle balle di paglia” (2016 and 2019) and “Emilia Romagna Festival” (2017, 2018 and 2021).

In 2021, the scores of the latter were published by Da Vinci Edition. In 2022, another two compilations including original music by Danilo Comitini Astor Piazzolla are going to be published by Da Vinci.

Among his numberless future tasks, is the conduction for the first time of the Orchestra della Toscana (ORT) in Florence during the 2023 season and the participation in TV and radio programs such as Prima della Prima (Rai 5), Radio 3 Suite and Primo Movimento (Radio 3).

ARCANGELO CORELLI ORCHESTRA

La Corelli was incorporated as an inclusive, participative and efficient cooperative in 2014, after a 5-year period as an association. A new professional organization was created out of the common dream of a few artists and it still has the same spirit of initiative and innovation.
The cooperative honours and fosters its relationship with the territory although it promotes the quality and artistic contributions of its members from different regions. In December 2020, the shareholders meeting unanimously reappointed the managing body, which includes Mr. Alfredo Branzanti as the Chairman and Mr. Nicolò Grassi as the General Manager, besides Mr. Matteo Ricci, Mr. Nicola Nieddu and M° Jacopo Rivani as the Artistic and Music Director.
Passion for music has always encouraged La Corelli to look for constant improvement and perfection in order to create a dynamic, meritocratic and professional environment where young talents can develop and fulfil their goals through a specifically designed artistic activity.

The highest expression of La Corelli is the Arcangelo Corelli Orchestra, which, for over ten years, has ranged from symphonic to opera repertoires, from musical theatre to experimental performances, proving the creativity, quality and versatility of its musicians.
The Orchestra is often engaged in original productions for different audiences while performing the masterpieces of the classical repertoire on the most important stages. Special attention is paid to the young with productions focused on school and didactics.

Throughout the years, La Corelli has consolidated its relationships with several musical and theatrical entities: “Ravenna Festival”, Macerata Opera Festival, Mittelfest, Associazione “Angelo Mariani”, “La piccola stagione” in Milan, “ERT – Emilia Romagna Teatro” As.Li.Co., Teatro Alighieri (Ravenna), Teatro Comunale (Ferrara), Teatro Regio (Parma), Teatro Rossini (Pesaro), Teatro Duse and Auditorium Manzoni (Bologna), Teatro Verdi (Pisa), Teatro Marruccino (Chieti), Teatro
Giglio (Lucca)
and many others, besides permanent collaborations with the municipalities of the province of Ravenna.
Dozens of young artists have been introduced to the general public by La Corelli and now they have a distinguished career. The Arcangelo Corelli Orchestra can boost collaborations with famous artists such as Bruno Canino, Timothy Brock, Fabrizio Meloni, Marco Pierobon, Fabio de Luigi, Neri Marcoré and Goran Bregovic.
Among the dates already scheduled for 2022, I would like to mention the following events and places at which the Orchestra is performing: “Ravenna Festival”, “Ravenna Musica”, “Mittelfest”, “Sagra Musicale Malatestiana”, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca and many others.
