“La passione per il Barocco” – Concert in the name of Renata Tebaldi
On 24 July, the greatest music lit up the San Marino summer in the name of Renata Tebaldi thanks to the precious cooperation with the Italian Embassy and the hospitality of ambassador Fabrizio Colaceci.
Angelica Disanto, winner of the second prize at the 2022 edition of the Concorso Tebaldi – Ancient and Baroque Repertoire section, now engaged in a beautiful international career, accompanied by harpsichordist Filippo Pantieri and violinist Luca Giardini, performed a rich programme which fascinated the audience with vocal and instrumental music from the 17th-18th century.
Pieces by Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Hasse, Händel, Pergolesi, Cima, Castello and Rognoni embellished a path of famous and rare notes ranging from impetuous passion to ecstatic joy.
As a moving extra, Angelica Disanto intensively performed “Piangerò la sorte mia” from Händel’s Giulio Cesare, renewing the role of Cleopatra, which was so deeply loved and played by Renata Tebaldi. Disanto sang standing just a few steps from the rare rose dedicated to our beloved Renata.
Before the joyful toast that concluded the event, another diplomatic investiture took place: Angelica Disanto was appointed Ambassador of the Fondazione Renata Tebaldi and, along with her colleagues who have been awarded prizes at the Competition, she will spread the name of the Republic of San Marino and that of the great soprano who chose this place as home in the last years of her life worldwide.
