156 candidates from 34 countries have enrolled on the 9^th edition of the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition – Opera Section 2024, which is taking place in the Republic of San Marino from 16^th to 20^thDecember 2024.

On the deadline of registrations, the first great achievement for the latest edition of the Competition is thrilling: the number of candidates is higher than in the past years.

The change in the formula from a biennial competition including Baroque and Opera repertoires to an annual event alternating the two sections, has resulted in an unexpected increase in the number of enrolments on the Opera section. Also in absolute terms, the number of countries the candidates come from is the highest ever recorded.

The winners of the 9^th edition of the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition – Opera Section 2024 will be selected among 93 sopranos, 16 mezzo-sopranos, 1 contralto, 13 tenors, 23 baritones and 10 basses coming from Italy, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, Costa Rica, Denmark, The Philippines, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Ukraine and the USA.

Considering the conflicts involving some of these countries, this result may be seen as a signal of comfort and hope for an ideal of peace and brotherhood in art.
